In these challenging times we are often being told that the economy needs to be rebalanced away from services and towards manufacturing. For this to happen of course British manufacturers have to come up with the right products at the right price and quality that people want to buy.
Then having produced the goods retailers need to stock them and I like to think that on this point at least Backworld is doing its bit. Not so long ago virtually everything we sold came from Scandinavia and much of our range still does and will continue to do so. But we have now introduced two highly successful British manufacturers to our portfolio. The first is Bristol based Ergochairs which has developed a niche market for ergonomic chairs that can be modifed quite substantially on a one off basis to suit a particular individual's needs. So successful at this have they proved to be that almost all Access to Work assessments involving a chair are now for Ergochair's Adapt range.
Our second UK manufacturer is Wales based Orangebox. They have a separate division from their mainstream office furniture business called, 'Active Ergonomics', and it is they who have developed the highly successful, 'Flo Chair'. Flo combines all the adjustability and options that one should expect from a fully ergonomic chair but at a highly competitive price. We think the Flo has great potential and we have a demonstration model available for anyone who wants to try it out.
Lastly for a long time we have sold Salli Saddle chairs from Finland with their distinctive split seat. To complement our range of saddle chairs we have now introduced our own brand called the, 'Exeter' and it features a one piece seat that provides exceptional comfort and posture improvement at a highly competitive price. It too is manufactured here in Britain.
